Baltimore Awesomeness part 2

This clock tower is famous in baltimore, it's called the Bromo-Seltzer tower.  The clock face reads Bromo-Selzer instead of having visible numbers.

Pretty Awesome!!!!

New Direction

I am pretty excited about life today.  I start a brand new job next week, that might just be a perfect fit for me.  From the onset I am quite excited.  Plus, today I started guitar lessons again for the first time in years.  I still remember some, have a lot to relearn, and a world of music to discover.

Here's a picture of my guitar; his name is Luka.  I am trying my best to push my life into a more positive light.  Reading for fun and reading for my spirit.  Taking pictures and taking the time to edit them.  Relearning a fun activity.  Life is what you make of it, to a degree, and I am trying to make it better.

Mathew 7:7-8
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Pitango

It is always a great day when I get a chance to visit Pitango, and have a gelato.

It's an even better day when they have Mojito gelato.

This is my guilty pleasure, I bet I could eat ten of these in one sitting.  Delicious.  The tartness of the lime, the yummy mint.  I can't think of a better dessert.

My pal Rachel and I got some gelato today and then met up with our friends to get some dinner in Fells Point.  Had an amazing day, hoping that tomorrow follows suit.

Hope

Praying for my life to take a new direction, a positive new direction.

Isaiah 40:31- But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.

Sunflower Field 2013

So I may have been late to the party, but I still showed up.  The Sunflowers bloomed weeks ago and I just found out.  As soon as I heard I grabbed my camera and made a bee-line for Jarrettsville.  And by Bee-Line, I mean it took twice as long as expected as I got horrible lost.  For reference, here is last years sunflower field .  I got there just in time last year.

I still got some great pictures, I just had to hunt around for a few lively sunflowers.  The sky was lovely. As you can see I wasn't too late.
This is my favorite picture of the day, I love the dew drops.

These sunflowers are massive, several feet tall.

It took some work, but I got some pictures that give the illusion that the sunflowers are alive, while note capturing the huge rummage sale that was going on just to the left.
All in all, this has already been a successful day and it is only 9am.
Love Always,

Meg

Sunflower

So I have posted this picture twice, but it makes me feel sooo hopeful.  You never know when you stop to take a picture, if you are going to capture an exceptional emotion....I was rushing to take this picture. I love it.

Matthew 11:28-30

"28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden , and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Hampden Observations

There must have been a slight problem with the hydrants in Hampden this evening, because there were hoses and orange fencing everywhere.
I got to Hampden a bit before my friends so I decided to wander around and take some pictures. I love the pastel blue and the fire engine red next to each other.
I love the flamingos in the bath tub, hilarious.

I could not believe what I was seeing.  Mary and Jesus, where the faces are cut out.  Something I never thought I would see, and can not imagine what went into the decision to make it.
But it has character, as does the little pug sitting on the stoop.

World War Two Memorial

This is my final Washington D.C. post.  I have visited the World War Two memorial several times, and it is a very serene place.
I love how you can see the Lincoln memorial in the distance.
I loved my visit to D.C. and I will definitely go back soon.

Lincoln Memorial

This just so happens to be my favorite place in DC.

Not feeling like saying to much today, I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

Three posts in one day

On Saturday I visited Washington DC, none of the pictures I have posted have been from today.

I posted my previous two posts before the terrible tragedy that occurred this morning.  Every-time a shooting occurs, my heart breaks.  I mourn for those injured, killed, and their loved ones.  It's easy to be blinded by your own pain, and forget about those around you.  I don't know what prompts people to do such horrendous things, but I know that we all just need to love our neighbors a little more.  Maybe reach out to those we love who are hurting a bit more.  To be of service to those around us.

The washington monument was damaged in the 2011 earthquake.  Slowly but surely they are patching cracks, and strengthening the structure.  In light of the many tragedies that America has suffered over the years, I thought that these two pictures were poignant.   We can't stop events in the past, but we can strive forward and try to create solutions.  As a country I hope we can do so.

I know so.

May God bless you and keep you safe,

Meg

The highlight of my Washington trip....

We got to see the white house.  I must confess that Channing Tatum is my favorite actor, so I most definitely went to see the movie...more than once.  Afterward I was determined to visit D.C.
When we first saw the White house in the distance, I didn't think we would be able to get closer then where the police car was.  I was pleasantly delighted that we got to take better pictures.
Next we got to this barricade and could not find our way around it, to stand where the crowd was.
Thankfully we did, we got some gorgeous pictures. I love Washington D.C.  It's too bad that I don't visit very often, I'll have to change that.  It's just so easy to catch a metro into the city, my friends and I already have plans to go back.

Skateboard Parasailing in Washington D.C.

Until Saturday, I had no idea that skateboard parasailing even existed.  But I spent about twenty minutes watching this gentleman do just that.
Not only was it cool to watch the skateboard parasailing, but he chose the area between the World War Two Memorial and the Washington Memorial to do it.  It made for some exciting picture taking.

I can't even imagine what kind of upper arm strength this takes.
He lifted at least five feet off the ground multiple times.
Wow!!!  I want to learn to do this, but first I think I need to learn to do more pull-ups, and by more I mean at least one.

Meg

Mt. Washington Tavern

Today was a very busy day.  I wandered in downtown Baltimore and took a ton of pictures, those will be sure to show up later this week.  I also had an excellent brunch at the Mt. Washington Tavern.

This restaurant burnt down a few years back, here is a post I did last year of the construction Mt. Washington Tavern.  I must say that the new building is even more lovely then it was.

It's the same size of the previous structure, but it feels much more spacious, and there are just so many windows.  The brunch area was bright with natural light.

Finally my friends Jess and Dominique wandered around Mt. Washington.  Resting in the clayworks garden, and viewing some beautiful sunflowers.

This is going to be an exciting week of pictures, both of Washington DC and Baltimore that I took this weekend.

Love Always,

Meg
